Charlie attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford where he completed a Diploma in guitar. He was then awarded a scholarship to go to musicians institute in Hollywood, California where he went on to complete a GIT & GAA Associates degree.

While studying at music college Charlie was fortunate enough to learn from some of the worlds greatest players such as Paul Gilbert, Robben Ford, George Lynch and many more.

Charlie has since gained valuable knowledge recording and working as a session player for a list of current artists and has performed at venues and festivals in the USA, Europe and the Channel Islands.

After returning back to Jersey in 2007 Charlie began teaching and opened his own guitar school in St Helier and in 2012 he opened Chordz and now plays in local band Roodmood, a five-piece rock/pop cover band.



Mehdi has been studying guitar his whole life and has learned to play a multitude of styles. He is primarily a folk guitarist and specialises in finger style techniques.

Mehdi has been playing and writing with the Lloyd Yates band since they began 4 years ago and regularly tours and gigs around major venues and festivals throughout the UK.

Mehdi spends most of his time travelling back and forth between London and Jersey. He is kept busy with regular gigs with the Lloyd Yates band.



Chris was a keen musician at school where his attention eventually settled on drums and percussion. Initially self-taught, he began playing in various bands around the island. As his drumming improved, so did his desire to learn more. He began taking lessons in Jersey and then moved to London to study at Drumtech.

He completed the Diploma in Popular Music Performance where some of the world’s most experienced session musicians teach. As he honed his skills in various genres, he began playing in a busy original pop-rock-electro band. Based in London, recording and releasing singles, EPs and albums, the band went on their travels, touring around the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Scandinavia. Chris also recorded drums and percussion as a session musician for many different artists in London.

With his aspirations always evolving, he has now returned to Jersey, hoping to pass on his experience to those who share a similar passion for the instrument.



Matt has played guitar from a young age and has always been around instruments due to having a father who is also a musician. After making guest appearances with his Dads group, he formed his first band in 1999. He has been gigging ever since with various bands and during that time has had the pleasure of playing with lots lot’s of great musicians and supporting bands such as; The Bravery, Deacon Blue, Kasabian and Ian Brown.

In his current band The Reasons, he is lead vocalist and plays electric/acoustic guitar and keyboard…. Sometimes bass when things get desperate!

Also, during this time he has spent many hours recording and has gained valuable experience with studio techniques and live sound.

As well as the band gigs, he plays many acoustic solo & duo sets around Jersey, Guernsey & Mainland UK.



Tom started learning the keyboard at the age of nine and then moved onto playing the piano at the age of thirteen. He has always had a keen interest in music and has recently completed a degree in popular music and music at the Institute of Popular Music at the University of Liverpool.

As part of his degree he specialised in piano performance, covering a range of styles including jazz, blues, classical and contemporary music. Whilst in Liverpool he played in a number of bands gaining experience as a writer and live performer. As well as music performance he also specialised in composition for piano and strings, having pieces performed at concerts in and around Liverpool by various established performers.

Whilst studying, Tom had the opportunity to work with various well established session musicians from around the UK, gaining invaluable experience developing his piano skills and musicianship as well as learning more about the music industry.

As well as the piano Tom also plays the drums and is in a number of bands performing regularly in Jersey. He is also Roodmood’s bass player! He’s a one man band!



Jay Shaughnessy graduated from Bimm London in 2014 finishing with a 2:1 Bmus(Hons) Degree in Popular Music Performance specialising In Bass guitar. With over 10 years of experience he now works as a professional musician performing across the UK and Europe with Lloyd Yates and various other artists. For the past few years he has played high profile festivals such as The Isle of White festival, Bestival, Board Masters, Radio 2 Hyde Park + Many Moren and has played in some Europes most prestige Venues, Portsmouth Guildhall (Supporting Jamie Cullum) Lusty Glaze (Supporting The Feeling) Brixton Electric (Supporting Xaivier Rudd) and La Bataclan (Supporting SOJA). Jay now teaches Bass, Guitar, Ukulele, Music Theory and Live Workshops



Hannah has been performing as a semi-professional singer since the age of 17.  Following dance and drama studies in Jersey Hannah later graduated at the London School of Musical Theatre where she was trained by one of the West End’s leading vocal coach’s, Toni Pedretti A.R.S.M.  As a professional singer Hannah has supported Will Young, Beverley Knight, Olly Murs & Alexandra Burke and recorded vocals on Joe McElderry’s Album SMILE and the X-Factor Finalists show, 2011.  Since returning to Jersey Hannah has established herself as a professional singer in a number of successful local bands including girl band ‘Honeybun’, Abba tribute band ‘ABBALOO’, function band ‘Inside Job’, vocal harmony trio ‘Optimistic Voices’ and is about to feature as lead singer for local pop/rock band ‘RoodMood’.  The diversity of her experience and training allows Hannah to teach a range of musical genres to suit all students.



Since a young age Piers has had a passion for the arts, performing and music. Piers plays piano and guitar as well as singing and songwriting, which he developed during his training at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and Liverpool Hope University.

After completing his music studies Piers then went on to play both as part of various bands and also as a solo artist. He enjoyed performing in a number of famous venues, including The Cavern (Liverpool) and The Water Rats (Kings Cross London).

In 2013 Piers joined ‘Brit Floyd, The World Famous Pink Floyd Show’ as a touring Keyboard technician. Piers was with the show during extensive arena and theatre tours of North America and Europe in which the band performed to over a quarter of a million fans around the world. Piers worked at famous venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Red Rocks Colorado and The Greek L.A.

After returning to Jersey, Piers would like to use his past experience and range of knowledge to focus on the musical development of others.



Having started singing at a young age, Lauren had singing lessons from age 14 and obtained Trinity Board of Music Grades 4, 5 and 6 as well as GCSE and A Levels in Music before going off to study contemporary music at Dartington College of Arts in Devon.

Since coming back to Jersey in 2010, Lauren has been heavily involved in the local music scene, originally as part of girl band Maskara which gave her the opportunity to sing for Prince Albert of Monaco during the London 2012 Olympics. She is currently lead singer of the local eight piece band Little Black Dress who have been a feature of functions in Jersey, Guernsey and France for the last three years.

Lauren has recently been writing her own music under her stage name Lauren Ivy and has had one of her songs featured on the soundtrack for new sci-fi film ‘Abduct’. She now also fronts her band Lauren Ivy & The Engine, playing a mix of Blues, Dance and Drum and Bass. Her musical influences are vast and she specialises in teaching pop, rock, blues and soul music and hopes to pass on her singing and performance experience to her students.
